At the Association of Alternative Newsweeklie’s Annual AltWeekliy Awards, the Washington City Paper took first place in the following categories:

Ad Design (Circulation > 60,000) : Jason Hutto, Ben Claassen and production staff, “Crafty Bastards Campaign”

Format Buster (Circulation > 60,000): John Metcalfe, Robert Ullman and Pete Morelewicz, “Black Guide to Georgetown”

News Story – Long Form (Circulation > 60,000) : Ryan Grim, “The Painmaker”
