As Ryan Avent leaves DCist behind for rainy London weather and a PhD in Economic History, Sommer Mathis, the Arts Editor, is filling his shoes.
Joining Martin Andres Austermuhle as co-editor-in-chief means we’ll be seeing a lot less of Mathis on Cruel Sommer, but she already received a vote of confidence from Avent. He describes Mathis as “one of the finest writers and editors I’ve come to know in this city; I’m excited to see how she changes and improves DCist.”
