From an internal notice: Walter Alarkon is joining Campaigns & Elections as a staff writer. He was most recently a reporter for the Concord (N.H.) Monitor. He has written for Newsweek, Boston and Inc., and he covered the 2004 New Hampshire presidential primary for PoliticsNH.com. He is a graduate of Boston College and Columbia University. Shane D'Aprile is a graduate of Fordham University in New York City. He comes to Campaigns and Elections after four years of work in public radio. At WFUV in New York Shane covered city and state politics, followed by a stint at WAMU in Washington DC. Shane has been the recipient of several awards for his work. He was honored by the Society of Professional Journalists in 2004 and 2005 for his reporting on issues related to September 11th, and most recently from the Associated Press for a radio documentary chronicling the return of U.S. soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan. Shane holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science and Communications from Fordham, and a graduate degree from Fordham's Elections and Campaign Management Program. He will join Tom Jennemann as a correspondent for our NJpols.com web site. Molly Clancy joins us from Atlantic Media (The Atlantic, National Journal, Hotline) where she was a senior events manager. She will serve as our Associate Director of Political Programs and Operations, and help continue the expansion of our trainings and events. At Atlantic Media, she served as the event manager responsible for The Atlantic's national accounts including Microsoft, GE and Ernst & Young. Prior to Atlantic Media, she served as Associate Director of Programs at the University of Virginia's Center for Politics. She is a 2003 graduate of U.Va. with a B.A. in Politics. Justin Schardin joins Campaigns & Elections as the Iowa correspondent for PoliticsIowa.com. Justin attended Boston University, attaining degrees in political science and economics. He was founder and CEO of Fargo, ND Web design company Digital Vision, and then following a merger became COO of Sundog from 2000 - 2006. He has served on several state and regional boards, worked on a number of statewide political campaigns, and was Campaign Coordinator for a ND Agriculture Commissioner candidate in 2006. He also has worked extensively in radio as a host and featured guest on topics ranging from technology to politics to sports. His writing credits include tech reviews for Fortune Small Business magazine and a series of interviews with North Dakota's five living former governors. He will talk music, film, and politics with anybody, and enjoys science, history, the NFL, talk radio, cooking, and trying to teach his dog to speak German. His son, Christian, is 4, and oddly enough knows how to say "dog" in German.
