Fernandez Named GM of WXYZ Detroit

Eduardo Fernandez has been named vp and general manager of WXYZ, Scripps’ ABC affiliate and top-rated news station in Detroit, the TV group announced Friday (April 16). He replaces Bob Sliva, who retired earlier this month.

Fernandez was most recently president and general manager of WSNS, NBC Universal’s owned-and-operated Telemundo station in Chicago. He has also held positions at TV stations in Grand Rapids, Mich. and Atlanta.

“Ed is known throughout the industry for his commitment to a high-quality on-air product, his strong record of sales success and his passion for community enrichment,” said Brian Lawlor, svp of the Scripps television division.
