And now, some internal housekeeping news.
Capital New York, the newly acquired Allbritton publication, has hired Alex Weprin, senior editor of TVNewser, our sister site at Mediabistro. With this news comes a promotion: Merrill Knox will be senior editor of TVNewser but will continue her duties at TVSpy.
“I am really excited to join Capital New York. It has been a great three and a half years at Mediabistro, and I am sad to leave my colleagues here, but I am looking forward to what’s ahead,” Weprin told FishbowlDC.
See the memo from Mediabistro VP/Editorial Director Chris Ariens and the job the company is looking to fill…Hi everyone,
I just wanted to let you know that after 3-and-a-half years, Alex Weprin is moving on from Mediabistro and joining Capital New York. Alex came to Mediabistro as co-editor of TVNewser in April 2010 and is currently the senior editor of the site, as well as a contributor to Lost Remote and the occasional FishbowlNY post.
During his time with us he’s broken some of the biggest TV news stories around, his reporting has led to some of the biggest traffic days to date, and along the way he created SportsNewser and maintained the WebNewser section of the site. Alex’s last day with us is next Friday.
Merrill Knox, who joined as us as co-editor of TVSpy and TVNewser in June 2011, has been promoted to senior editor of TVNewser while continuing her role as senior editor of TVSpy. Merrill, along with Kevin Eck, have grown TVSpy into the second most-read blog (after TVNewser) in the network.
Now the search is on for an editor who will split their time writing for TVNewser and Lost Remote. Here’s the job posting, so please share with anyone you know.
Thanks to Alex for his years of service and congratulations to Merrill on a well-deserved promotion.
