He was a reporter for Roll Call. She worked for then Majority Whip Tom DeLay (R-Texas). They met at a GOP Congressional retreat in 1999.
Their names aren’t Danny and Sandy. And though neither Autumn nor Jim VandeHei can recall the name of the Lebanese restaurant they went to on their first date, it was a drive to the Shenandoah mountains, a friends-only date, during which she realized Jim was the one.
In the upcoming Summer 2010 issue of Capitol File, writer Susanna Quinn polls local “power” couples on where and how they met.
Another couple featured in the feature is Amy and Bret Baier, an FNC anchor.
