Occidental Grill & Seafood is trying really hard to get CBS “Face the Nation” Host Bob Schieffer and former Obama aide David Axelrod to bury the hatchet. To that end, they’ve invited Axelrod to the restaurant’s BBQ, Bourbon, Beer and Bob (Schieffer) non-profit event.
This may not be an easy relationship to patch up. Schieffer recently complained about his problems with White House access and landing guests for his show. But on Tuesday Axelrod shoved the knife it by arguing that Schieffer’s case was rather flimsy. He said, “the notion that the public should be concerned or disturbed, or that the taxpayer’s being cheated because Bob can’t book the guests he wants, I’m unsympathetic to that.”
The party will take place on June 15 out on the Occidental patio. Fare will be smoked brisket, pulled pork sandwiches, pork belly sliders, cornbread, slaw, pickles, snow cones, blueberry cobbler, and fudge brownies. Beer will be from Port City Brewing Co. and Bulleit Bourbon, Woodford Reserve and Filibuster Bourbon will be served (if any of that means anything to anyone).
Schieffer and his band, Honky Tonk Confidential, will perform. They warn… that this will be an “all-you-can-eat” affair and “fun for the whole family.”
Proceeds will support MicroGreens, a non-profit that helps families shop for, prepare and enjoy healthy foods within the confines of a government supplemented budget. Ten percent of the proceeds from the event will be donated to MicroGreens.
