Fastlane: Road to Revenge features more than 20 popular YouTube personalities as in-game characters, including Jordi van den Bussche, otherwise known as Kwebbelkop. The 21-year-old YouTube star has more than 6.7 million subscribers, and he recently spoke with Social Pro Daily about his role in Fastlane, and more.
For Fastlane, each participating YouTuber was allowed to influence their in-game personalities. “Space Ape has given me a lot of creative freedom and allowed me to be very involved in the process. It’s very refreshing,” Kwebbelkop said.
While many mobile games struggle to find a footing among so much competition, the inclusion of celebrity YouTubers should help Fastlane find instant appeal. For Kwebbelkop, the YouTube star said his viewers “have been very positive about the game and my involvement.”
Outside of existing fans, Fastlane may also help expose players to new YouTubers they’re unfamiliar with. We asked Kwebbelkop how he saw Fastlane impacting his channel and brand.
“As a YouTuber, it’s very easy to become pigeonholed into that one thing,” he said. “The ability to branch out has been great for my image and brand. It shows people there is more to me than just making videos.”
Fastlane is one of many active projects Kwebbelkop has outside of his YouTube channel. “I have active property investments, a game studio startup and, on top of that, I am exploring creating a business to solve problems within my current industry,” he told us. “I always maintain sight on the long term—at 21-years-old, life and business is just starting.”
When asked what advice he would give other YouTubers looking to grow their brands, Kwebbelkop offered the following:
Work hard. It’s a very simple answer, but one that is often forgotten by most. There is no quick success in this world, no quick buck worth having. If you want it, work for it, but always remember that with YouTube or other social media platforms, for most it just doesn’t work. So set realistic goals and be honest with yourself.
