This morning you may have noticed that the usual YouTube logo has been replaced with a rockin’ purple electric guitar.  The logo is there in honor of the relaunch of YouTube Music.  YouTube Music is now, according to the new channel’s description, “Your place to discover new music on the web.”

A video about the new YouTube.com/Music channel explains more.  Apparently, users can login daily to discover hand-picked playlists, recommended music and artists, popular music, concerts near you, Top 10 and more.  I did find it a little bit funny that they list Rebecca Black’s ‘My Moment’ as #1 on the Top 10 in the video, but what can you do?

They are kicking off the new YouTube Music service with a Spotlight on the homepage.  They say, “Today, we relaunch youtube.com/music with personalized recommendations, concert listings, and buzz playlists from tastemakers in the music world.  Red Hot Chili Peppers kick things off with their guide to rock’n’roll they couldn’t live without.”

I think that the music recommendations, which can be sorted by genre, the Top 10 and the playlists are cool, but what I’m really excited about is the Upcoming Concerts Near You.  They’ve got a list of all the big shows coming up in your area, and you can check out videos and buy tickets directly from the listing.

Check out YouTube.com/Music and let us know what you think.  Do you think this will be a useful destination for you in terms of discovering new music, concerts and more?
