The YouTube network Indmusic announced on Thursday that it has signed on a number of new record labels and management companies as it looks to become a leading ad network in the online music space. The new partners are Tmwrk Management, Paper Garden Records, Reach Records, Top Shelf Records, Decon, IamSound Records, Mixmash Records, Temporary Residence Limited and LuckyMe Records.
The startup now claims to have 221 channel partners that generate 1.4 billion views per month.
Indmusic has made its mark as the company behind monetizing the Harlem Shake phenomenon. CEO Brandon Martinez said that the new slate of partnerships should help other artists and labels similarly cash in on YouTube.
“Musicians generally have a zero sum knowledge on how to properly leverage YouTube, which causes a lot of money to be left on the table, or oftentimes in the wrong hands,” he said in a statement. “Through our work with indie labels and managers, we ensure their artists have a strong digital strategy and monetization plan on YouTube that is the best it possibly can be. Harlem Shake proved that a viral hit can happen in a flash, and you need to be prepared.”
