Antoine Dodson, Double Rainbow Guy & Other Viral Sensations To Star In YouTube Meme Movie

What do Antoine Dodson, Double Rainbow guy, Leeroy Jenkins, Afro Ninja, Numa Numa, Freakout Kid, Tay Zonday, Boxxy, Ted Williams and Boom Goes The Dynamite guy have in common? They all went viral on YouTube. But that’s not all—they are also all actors slated to perform in the feature film, The Chronicles Of Rick Roll. Though the film was originally announced back in February, it is gaining traction on YouTube once again this week as the trailer was reuploaded and has garnered over 250,000 new views. The plot of The Chronicles Of Rick Roll is described on the film’s Facebook page. "An insecure man must lead a band of misfits through the dangerous world of the Internet to save the woman he loves from his own creation." It looks like Alice In Wonderland gone wrong—with Antoine Dodson as the Mad Hatter, Double Rainbow guy Paul Vasquez commenting on every "double item" he sees, and the Boom Goes The Dynamite guy serving as some kind of wacky narrator. Check out the official concept trailer below. On Facebook, writer and producer Andrew Fischer of Nurv.com and his team offer up a disclaimer: "This movie has not been filmed yet. The ‘concept trailer’ was shot to raise interest. We are currently in development mode and are meeting with Hollywood producers and actors in order to take this movie into official production mode." I must say that I would love to see this movie, as horrible as it looks, but I have my doubts about whether it will ever actually come to fruition. I watch YouTube videos pretty much all day every day (I have to for work, I swear!), but I don’t know how many people out there are actually familiar with every one of the viral sensations and YouTube memes that are set to star in the film…not to mention the fact that most of these stars went viral not because of talent but because of accidental moment caught on tape and (sorry, no offense guys) they can’t really act. The guys at NURV are pretty optimistic, though. In a press release back in May, they say that the film "has caught the attention of top Hollywood executives." Associate producer and marketing expert Brian D. Evans said, "The marketing potential alone is phenomenal. By appealing to our cast’s enormous fanbases, we’ll witness one of the largest viral campaigns every devised for a motion picture." This isn’t the only film that is attempting to piggyback off the viral success of YouTube videos and stars. Nickelodeon hit the jackpot with Fred: The Movie and there is a Sneezing Baby Panda mockumentary in the works as well. If The Chronicles Of Rick Roll actually gets picked up and made into a feature film, will you go see it? Secretly I'm wondering if, when the movie is finally released, it will just be a few minutes long before cutting to Rick Astley's 'Never Gonna Give You Up', but I guess that only time will tell.
