Sorry we missed this a few weeks ago, seeing as it’s about one of our favorite traveling architecture and design museums (not to be confused with the Nomadic Museum, of course), the A+D, which has found a home near LACMA, and another location we knew less about, the Museum of Design Art and Architecture Gallery in Culver City. Scott Timberg’s piece in the usually design-less LA Times talks about how two design museums in LA are coming into their own, but in slightly awkward ways.
Even though A+D has a great collection, they didn’t have a home until recently; MODAA doesn’t have a permanent collection, but it has a home and, more importantly, parties. We’d round out that list with MOCAD, which has a collection and events, but no home. Do we need to play design museum matchmaker here?
