Salon has a longish interview with Mike Shermer–author, Skeptic, and competitive cyclist. He’s got a new book Why Darwin Matters: The Case against Intelligent Design. He’s a friend of the family, so FBLA took advantage of the situation and called him up.
He said that Kevin Berger was well-prepared and knowledgeable, that they talked for a long time, and it’s a relief to have an interview where he’s not called upon to defend all non-believers. Mike attracts a certain crowd, and as he says militant atheists are almost as bad as reformed smokers. He’s always happy to handle money (In God We Trust) and think people who carp at saying the Pledge and singing Christmas carols just want to complain.
