Yahoo Firing 1,500 Employees

Yahoo_CEO_SAI.jpgIt’s not as if it’s a huge surprise at this point, but Yahoo has finally announced its layoff plans. Silicon Alley Insider reports that will be reducing its global workforce by “at least 10%,” or 1,500+ employees.

The report said that this isn’t as bad as it looks, simply because over the past six months, Yahoo has hired approximately the same number of people. They’re still in trouble, but given that they’ve hired 3,000 people since last year “when the economy was screamingly healthy and online advertising was cranking along,” it’s not the end of the world.
