Yahoo Esports Lets You Follow Competitive Gaming on Android

The app gives users access to news and match videos for popular competitive video games.

Following the launch of Yahoo Esports earlier this year, Yahoo launched its Yahoo Esports application on Android. The app gives users access to news and match videos for popular competitive video games including League of Legends, Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Heroes of the Storm and Street Fighter V.

The Yahoo Esports app allows users to browse a hub of content for each game, and includes information about tournaments, professional teams and more. Users can browse a schedule to find upcoming matches to watch, and set reminders so they don’t miss a match.

The app also provides live stats for current matches and allows users to watch live and completed matches. Finally, the app features Yahoo Esports’ editorial content.

In a blog post earlier this year, Bob Condor, vice president of Yahoo Sports Media, commented on the launch of Yahoo Esports:

The eSports industry is growing at a tremendous rate, with a global audience reach of more than 226 million (in 2015). With that in mind, we identified an incredible opportunity to build a premier destination for eSports on Yahoo Sports. We are committed to providing the best sports content and experiences 24/7 on Yahoo Sports, so it makes sense that Yahoo Esports is aligned with our Sports Media group.

The Yahoo Esports app is available to download for free on Google Play, and is coming soon to iOS.
