Yahoo Does Ad-Funded Texts with 4INFO

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Yahoo has teamed up with text-message advertising start-up 4INFO. Under the deal, Yahoo will use 4INFO to deliver its news, weather updates, sports scores and such via text message. In addition to the Yahoo content, the messages will include a small ad.

Once the program launches, there’ll be a place online where consumers can opt-in to receive the ad-sponsored alerts, the Journal says.

With 4NFO’s model, Yahoo can sell the ads itself or have 4INFO sell them through its mobile ad network.
