We know that the most-hashtagged emoji on Instagram is the heart, but what about on Twitter?
The overwhelming No. 1? Joy, which has 22 percent of the mentions on Twitter and is trending at more than 100,000 mentions per hour.

Spredfast’s Laura Wooding blogged about the way that brands have embraced emoji. Jim Rudden, CMO of Spredfast, discussed the growth of emoji with SocialTimes:
The increase in emoji use in just the last year has been remarkable. And with any consumer trend, you expect to see brands jumping in on the action. I’ve enjoyed seeing some of the creative ways brands have incorporated emojis into their marketing – Domino’s, for example has a really fun #OrderwithaTweet campaign that allows hungry social media users to order pizza by simply tweeting the pizza emoji to @Dominos. Or, Miracle Grow, who did a #springmoji virtual garden to celebrate the first day of spring – and saw really great engagement from consumers. This is a trend we can only expect to continue, and something that more and more businesses will likely incorporate into their social strategy.
