Female power was in full force at The New York Women in Communications’ annual Matrix Awards on Monday. And we were on the red carpet to catch up with the honorees, including MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell; Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-New York; and Megan Smith, U.S. chief technology officer. Mitchell, host of Andrea Mitchell Reports, revealed topics she’s passionate about, including the nuclear talks with Iran and Hillary Clinton’s latest adventures. Smith called on women in tech — and other Americans — to be part of the solution when it comes to cyber security. And Gillibrand offered her take on how the media should report on electoral candidates:
I think it’s really important to cover the issues, to cover what people believe in, how they’re going to help people, what their priorities will be because we really have to know who they are and who they’re going to fight for in order to know who to vote for.
