Wired is growing its online world with the addition of a Transportation vertical and the expansion of its Entertainment vertical. The former is overseen by associate editor Alex Davies; the latter, now known as Culture, is led by senior editor Peter Rubin.
The Transportation vertical will publish roughly 40 pieces a month, with at least 40 percent of the content focusing on automotive themes. That might increase as time goes by, as Wired is looking to add two full-time staffers to the new section.
Culture—which previously covered TV, movies, music and more—will expand to feature items on social media and viral moments.
“We are seeing profound developments in transportation and it was time that our top-tier reporting had a dedicated section,” said Wired editor in chief Scott Dadich, in an announcement. “I’m also excited to make Wired’s expansive approach to culture official, as we continue to provide whip-smart pop-culture commentary alongside thoughtful investigation of our changing society.”
