All you need to do to win is think up some great reasons (in 140 characters or less) why you should be selected for this sweet opportunity and then tweet it out using the #WantAnR8 hashtag. The #hashtag contest runs from today through October 29, 2012 and there will be eight winners selected during that time.
And what does “winning” look like? Winners will be asked to choose between “a day with an Audi R8 or the Audi sportscar experience R8 One-Day Program at Infineon Raceway in a Sonoma, CA,” according to Audi’s official rules. Huh? Sports car experience at a raceway, did you say? If the choice is between schlepping that beautiful machine through commuter traffic or racing it – the way God intended – on a racetrack in sunny California, I think the choice is clear.
Joanne McCoy was the impetus for the campaign, by the way – so we should all thank her. Last year, she tweeted to Audi (pretty relentlessly, it seems from her blog!), eventually using the #WantAnR8 hashtag and lo and behold – Audi drove a brand new R8 to her house for her to use over the weekend. After that, the official campaign kicked off and garnered more than 75,000 hashtag tweets.
I wonder how many tweets they’ll get this year? I know a few dozen will come from me, give or take a hundred. How about you?
