White House Press Secretary Jay Carney Set to Resign

US-POLITICS-CARNEYEven more news than usual out of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue this week. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney plans to resign from his role in the administration in mid-June 2014.

President Obama named Josh Earnest – Carney’s deputy – as his replacement.

“It’s been an amazing experience,” said Carney after the president’s announcement of his stepping down. “Just so fulfilling.”

On what’s next, he added, “I haven’t made any decisions yet…I’m excited by some of the possibilities.”

Prior to Carney, Robert Gibbs served as Obama’s first presidential press secretary.
