Wheel of Fortune Announcer Charlie O'Donnell Dies

The voice behind the show Wheel of Fortune has died. Charlie O’Donnell worked as the announcer since WOF first went on the air in 1975. He was still with the show when he passed away in his LA home at the age of 78 over the weekend.

Aside from his many years at WOF, as our sister site Fishbowl NY informed us, O’Donnell was the newscaster for Simon and Garfunkel song 7 O’Clock News/Silent Night. O’Donnell worked as a DJ at WOR-FM in New York in the mid-1960s.
