WhatsApp hits 700M user mark

WhatsApp, the messaging app owned by Facebook, is building to scale. Its CEO and Co-Founder, Jan Koum, announced that there are now more than 700 million people around the world using the app.

Additionally, every day, users send more than 30 billion messages.

Koum posted about the milestone on Facebook:

I hope you all had a happy and peaceful holiday season. Today, we’re thrilled to share that WhatsApp has more than 700 million monthly active users. Additionally, every day our users now send over 30 billion messages.
