Wash Time’s Fashion Week Event… Interesting?!

The Fashion Week event held at the Wash Times last night was, er, well…interesting. Guests were treated to a Powerpoint presentation about WT (seen in photo) and then reminded that they could rent the space for family reunions and weddings. In all fairness, WT did donate the space in trade for being named “partner.” My advice to the Times: next time, stick with “donor.”

Riddle me this: Where were Stephanie Green, Maria Cuomo and the others that were quoted in the press release about this shindig? After a few sensible $6.00 bourbon and sprites (they didn’t have ginger), I could have been convinced to buy Cuomo a % 40 Off Necklace.

Check out the news release after the jump.

DC Fashion Week Event Thursday Night
at Washington Times Arbor Ballroom

Washington, DC: The Washington Times has partnered with DC Fashion Week and is hosting the Fashion Week Networking Party at its Arbor Ballroom on Thursday, February 19, 2009, from 7 – 10 p.m.

Thursday night’s program will feature a fashion show with 50 models and four acts, including an all-female band and dancing.

DC Fashion Week is an eight-day event in its 10th year that occurs on the heels of New York Fashion Week. Due to the new Obama administration, DC Fashion Week has received a shot in the arm with First Lady Michelle Obama gaining attention with a Vogue magazine fashion cover, and with Tysons’s Corner Center as the fifth largest fashion district in the U.S.

Mary Amons of the District Sample Sale, a popular event among Washington’s fashion-forward, is quoted in today’s Washington Times, “The Obama’s are infusing this town with an energy and fashionable reputation….”

Ean Wlliams of D.C. Fashion Week said the purpose of D.C. Fashion Week is to promote Washington as a global leader in fashion and to advocate issues important to the clothing industry.

Mario Cuomo Cole, daughter of former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo and wife of designer Kenneth Cole, said, “The ultimate tastemakers are in the White House, and that unlike in the recent past, her fellow New Yorkers no longer poke fun at their less chic Washington friends.”
