WARNING: Facebook Events Can Link To Viruses!

If you see a tempting link on Facebook, look at the address before clicking on it. Beware of anything containing the characters /app_

This morning, I was made admin of an event called “New Apple iPhone5 Testers” by someone I don’t know — but hey, I have 2,800 friends and 4,500 subscribers, so that doesn’t mean much.

I went to check out the event, and thought, “Hey a free iPhone 5? Awesome!”

I clicked the link, and was forwarded to another website, then my antivirus software popped up saying, “Threat Blocked!!!” And then I felt stupid.

So, if you see a tempting link on Facebook, think twice and make sure your antivirus is up to date!

Note that if a friend’s account is hacked, he or she might send you something like what I received, so whether you know the person or not is not a good criteria for whether or not you click on it.
