Warframe Updated to Celebrate Movember

Developer Digital Extremes has announced the launch of its Movember content update in Warframe, its multiplayer free-to-play title on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The update sees Digital Extremes partnering with the Movember Foundation’s annual Movember campaign, which asks participants to grow a mustache during the month of November in order to raise awareness, and hopefully funds, to ultimately save or improve the lives of men affected by prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health issues. In Warframe, this partnership translates to virtual mustaches being given out to the game’s players.

During the game’s Movember event, its community of over 12 million players is being asked to consider donating to make a difference. All players are eligible to receive the free “Magnum” mustache during this event, but as players donate to the Warframe page on the Movember Foundation’s website, they’ll unlock addition mustaches for distribution within the game. As of this writing, the campaign has raised over $6,300 of its $10,000 goal, and two mustaches, “The Tusker” and “The Baron,” have been unlocked within the game. Two final mustaches are still locked.

“Our Tenno love to get behind a great cause so we expect our Movember activities to generate some great awareness and contributions,” said Meridith Braun, VP of publishing at Digital Extremes, in a statement. “We are excited about all of the Movember activities we have planned.”

In addition to this campaign to raise money, Warframe will aim to break a Movember-themed Guinness World Record later this month. Full details regarding the record and how players can participate will be revealed on November 12. Additional in-game items and contests are being planned for the game for throughout the month.

Warframe is available to download and play for free on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The game sees users teaming up with others to complete cooperative missions across futuristic environments. While free-to-play, the game is supported via premium currency, which allows users to spend real money on special items in the game’s store.
