Vogue’s imperious editor Anna Wintour is sort of the Mommy Bear of the fashion family with all the designers vying for her affection. Her recent ”study break” was well attended. Of late, however, Wintour appears to be enamored with a tennis player. At the Oscar de la Renta show, for example, Roger Federer and Anna attracted all the flashbulbs. From New York Daily News:
”Anna Wintour’s love of tennis has been fraying the nerves of some designers, who wish the Vogue editrix spent more time at Fashion Week and less at the U.S. Open.
”’Anna’s presence at a show is like a stamp of approval,’ says one fashionista. ‘It gets more attention for the designer, and if she likes what she sees, she can make them a star.’
”A snitch says rising designer Derek Lam tried to push back his Sunday show to allow Wintour time to get back from Flushing.”
