77 WABC is winning the overnight thanks to Doug McIntyre’s Red Eye Radio.

On February 8, the talk stalwart made the switch from Coast to Coast with George Noory.

In the most recent PPM results, McIntyre’s Citadel Media-syndicated show is number one in highly sought after demographics–men 18-49 and 18-34.

The show, which airs from 1-5 am seven nights a week on WABC-AM, also registered a number two position for men 25-54.

“There was a clear opening for an overnight show that’s live, entertaining, and issues-driven,” Laurie Cantillo, WABC Program Director, tells FishbowlNY. “Doug McIntyre has a humorous and engaging style that’s perfect for the late night/early bird crowd, particularly in a city that never sleeps like New York. As the ratings indicate, his show is on fire, particularly with younger listeners.”

Following the national overnight broadcast, since the fall of 2009, McIntyre hosts the 5 a.m. hour exclusively for WABC.

That show, which is the lead-in for Imus in the Morning, is tops among men 18-34 and men 25-54.

“[It] has been a consistently strong ratings performer, particularly in the men 25-54 demo, so his ratings success is not a surprise,” Cantillo says.
