The Super Bowl MVP has been making the media rounds and enjoying every moment. On this morning’s Dan Le Batard Show, number 58 revisited a very funny backstage moment at Saturday Night Live.
When first asked by the ESPN Radio host to isolate a highlight of his post-Super Bowl media appearances, the Denver Bronco linebacker came up with a blank. But Le Batard pushed and it produced some fantastic color.
Miller says he knows full well, from his end, how an autograph request can sometimes be extremely ill-timed. However, he couldn’t help himself with Kanye West during the Feb. 13 taping of Saturday Night Live. Miller immediately picked up that West, due to those events revealed by Page Six, was in no mood to be asked for an autograph. To compound matters, when Miller approached the rapper, he did not have a Sharpie. So once West reluctantly agreed, Miller had to search for and find a marker for West to use. (A situation Miller added always irritates him, when it happens in reverse.)
Miller explained that he had been given an extra pair of Yeezy sneakers by Adidas, besides those he was wearing at the time. That’s the artifact he had West sign, with some big help from Kim Kardashian. The Super Bowl MVP said Mrs. West was “110 per cent” and a large reason he was able to land the West signature.
Kudos to Le Batard for not taking blank as an answer. As the conversation about West progressed, you could hear the host’s delight in having managed to get Miller to share these details. The E=MVP (to quote Miller’s fun Weekend Update science report) framed the encounter as the first time he has been “shined on.”
