Vibe Adds Four New Staffers

vibe_sexy_issue_sm.jpgFollowing last month’s sale and subsequent layoffs among its editorial staff, Vibe today announced four new hires:

  • Dwayne Shaw (37) re-joins as Creative Director of VIBE following a two and a half year stint in the art department at People magazine. Mr. Shaw has history with VIBE, having served as art director from 1997-1999. Additionally, Mr. Shaw has worked as Creative Director of Universal Records and as PrintArt Director of Byron Preiss Multimedia. His freelance magazine experience includes projects with Vogue, George, Maximum Golf, and Oneworld. He holds a B.A. from Howard University.
  • Jon Caramanica (30) joins VIBE as Music Editor, having most recently served as Senior Contributing Writer at XXL. His work has been featured in a host of publications, including: The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Spin, The Village Voice, Blender and New York magazine. Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Caramanica graduated from Harvard University in 1997.
  • Keith Murphy (34) returns to the VIBE family as Senior Associate Editor. Mr. Murphy, a native from Southside Chicago, was formerly editor of Blaze Magazine Online. Most recently, he served as Editor-At-Large of King Magazine. Mr. Murphy’s work has been published in Complex, The Source Magazine, XXL and men’s lifestyle book, Manifest X.O.
  • Damien Scott (20) joins the VIBE staff as Reporter. A dynamic young talent, Mr. Scott most recently served as Music Editor at Mass Appeal magazine. In addition, he has written for VIBE, Complex, Rides, XXL and XXL Online. Mr. Scott is a native of Montclair, NJ.
