When the Arab Spring happened earlier this year, did you follow it on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networking sites? You weren’t the only one.

The US Department of Defense is working on plans to use social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter as tools to track rebellions according to a recently released document. The DOD wants to be able to track uprisings as they occur and also be able to identify which ones have true popular support vs the ones fomented by a fringe group.
