The Colorado Independent Publishers Association (CIPA) announced yesterday that it will be working with 2 Colorado libraries, Red Rocks Community College Library and Douglas County Libraries, to sell ebooks from CIPA members through the libraries’ catalogs.
Library patrons will be able to search a library’s catalog and if they want, they can buy an ebook. There will be a link in the listing for each ebook published by CIPA, and it will lead to a website where the ebook can be purchased.
This is a positive move on the part of publishers, considering that it comes so soon after HarperCollins announced its new restrictions on ebook lending. Hopefully more publishers will follow the lead of CIPA.
