Twitter has 284 million active users, but how many of those are from outside the United States?
The vast majority, reveals data from Statista. Just 22 percent of Twitter’s active user base will be found inside the U.S. in 2015, with almost 8 in 10 users located around the rest of the world.
Asia Pacific leads the way, accounting for 35 percent of Twitter’s user base this year, rising to more than 40 percent over the next three years.
Moderate growth is also anticipated in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
However, both the U.S. and Western Europe are expected to control a slowly decreasing slice of Twitter’s pie as we reach the end of the decade, with a share of 19 percent and 14.2 percent respectively through 2018.
