Twitter is very much a worldwide phenomenon with a growing presence in almost every major country in the world, and this dynamic audience is reflected in the platform’s language breakdown. As you might imagine, English is the number one language on Twitter with a 34 percent share, but what about the rest of the world?
Semiocast has done the math and detected tweets from 61 languages on Twitter, led by English ahead of Japanese (16 percent), Spanish (12 percent), Malay (8 percent) and Portuguese (6 percent).
