Twitter’s backbone has been a reverse-chronological order, allowing news to flow in real-time.
However, to make the user experience better for newer and novice users who find the service perplexing, Twitter has been finding ways to break away from the firehose.
This latest test, spotted first by Vice’s Motherboard, breaks tweets from their reverse-chronological order.
A Twitter spokesperson explained this test to SocialTimes:
This is an experiment. We’re continuing to explore ways to surface the best content for people using Twitter.
