And The Winner Of This Year’s Super Bowl Is... Twitter [STATS]

Yesterday we documented how Super Bowl XLVI had triggered a series of new tweets per second (TPS) records on Twitter, with the game itself peaking at a heady 12,233 TPS in the closing moments.

This was a huge jump from previous years, and it really illustrates the growth of Twitter as a platform, especially in the way it brings people together during live events. In 2008 the TPS peak during the Super Bowl registered at a humble 27, and last year’s 4,064 Super Bowl TPS, a record for any sporting event at the time, has been tripled just 12 months later.
