Close to one-in-ten U.S. adults get news through Twitter, representing approximately half of North America’s active Twitter population, reveals a new study from the Pew Research Journalism Project.
Pew surveyed more than 5,000 U.S. adults, and discovered that 16 percent of respondents used Twitter. Of those, slightly more than half (52 percent) “ever” get news on Twitter.
For Twitter users, the vast majority access their news on Twitter via a mobile device (85 percent), compared to just 64 percent who do the same thing on Facebook.
Of course, flipping this on its head, the stats also say than more than eight in ten U.S. adults are not even on Twitter.
Here’s a richer breakdown of the data from Pew.
