Twitter Spurred the Discussion on National Voter Registration Day

Celebrities and influencers across the U.S. also took to Twitter Tuesday

National Voter Registration Day took place Tuesday, and Twitter teamed up with its organizers to discuss the challenges behind driving citizens to vote.

Twitter and National Voter Registration Day hosted a discussion at the social network’s office in Washington, D.C., featuring panelists and audience members from the government, corporate and nonprofit sectors.

Senior public policy manager Bridget Coyne said in a blog post that representatives from Rock the Vote, BET, the National League of Cities and the National Association of State Election Directors shared best practices for getting voters to the polls, writing, “The common challenge—and opportunity—is finding voters where they organically spend their time, to get them both to register and turn out at the polls.
