Twitter has just made two significant hires in an effort to focus on its revenue generation.
Twitter’s president of global revenue, Adam Bain, today announced the two newest members of Twitter’s revenue team (on Twitter, of course):

Both Shailesh Rao and Stephen McIntyre come directly from Google.
Rao will take on the position of Twitter’s VP of international revenue in April. He will work towards setting up sales operations in various countries around the world ready to take the plunge into 140-character advertising.
McIntyre will be working out of Twitter’s Dublin, Ireland office, as Twitter’s director of online sales and operations. His main task will be setting up Twitter’s self-serve advertising solutions internationally.
Both men have experience in advertising at their former employer, Google. Rao had, most recently, been head of Google’s display advertising business in Asia, and McIntyre worked at Google’s Dublin headquarters running their international self-serve ads team.
Adam Bain has this to say about the new hires and the future of Twitter’s promoted products:
“2012 will be a pivotal year for Twitter and our advertising business. These hires are key to bringing our Promoted Products to more markets around the world and helping businesses everywhere get value from advertising on Twitter. I couldn’t be more excited.”
