Twitter Is Set for Tipoff of the NBA Finals With Emojis, Stickers

LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving lead in mentions since the playoffs began

The third consecutive meeting of the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers in the National Basketball Association Finals tips off Thursday night, and Twitter is all set with special hashtag-triggered emojis and stickers.

Fans who include #NBAFinals in their tweets will generate an emoji of the league’s Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy, and the hashtags #DefendTheLand and #DubNation will spur special emojis for the Cavaliers and Warriors, respectively.

The social network also created the eight stickers pictured above, depicting a championship ring, the Larry O’Brien trophy and jerseys, headbands and foam fingers for both clubs.

Twitter said in a blog post that the Golden State and Cleveland players who have tallied the most mentions since the NBA postseason began are:

  1. LeBron James
  2. Stephen Curry
  3. Kevin Durant
  4. Kyrie Irving

Finally, Twitter users see this series as a toss-up, with Twitter saying that based on conversation on the social network, 51 percent of fans are predicting a Warriors victory, versus 49 percent for the Cavaliers.
