Tweet All About It: Twitter Most Popular Word of 2009

Thanks to DC super-Tweeters like Jake Tapper, Ana Marie Cox and Kenny Day, Twitter beat out “Obama” as the “Top Word of 2009,” according to the Global Language Monitor’s annual survey of the English language.

“Obama” came in second, and “Obama-mania” was the second most popular phrase after “King of Pop.” Also topping the list of most popular words: H1N1, stimulus, vampire, 2.0, hadron (the object of study of CERN’s new atom smasher), health care and transparency.
