Fishbowl was relieved to have the New Yorker inform us that the original voyeurist TV show Taxicab Confessions is finally coming back here where it belongs. We were confused about HBO Documentaries President Sheila Nevins’ choice of simile in giving a rationalization for why the show is a hit: “I think Shakespeare would have liked this show,” she said. “He was a voyeur. He listened.” Perhaps, but he didn’t trap Anne Hathaway (no, silly, if you think it’s the teen idol, you lose a point) inside a steel cage, get her loaded up on Red Bull stolis and ask her leading questions while having the entire cast of the Globe peer through the keyhole. At least we don’t think he did.
