The Travel Channel has announced a new content update for its iOS app, along with a new name: Travel Channel Cities. The app has been updated to fit the look and feel of iOS 7, and offers four more cities as hubs of information and travel destinations.
Travel Channel Cities now features Austin, Boston, Las Vegas and Washington D.C., bringing the app’s total to 24 cities around the world. The app offers almost 1,200 points-of-interest, including restaurants, hotels and museums featured in a variety of Travel Channel shows.
The app includes information and video clips from “Adam Richman’s Best Sandwich in America,” “Bizarre Foods America,” “Food Paradise,” “Man V. Food,” “Monumental Mysteries” and “Mysteries at the Museum,” among others. Users can filter these locations by type (hotels, restaurants, attractions, etc.) or by show.
In addition to television clips, the app offers standard city overview videos and suggested books, movies and music playlists which tie into the theme of a particular city.
“We have made major enhancements to an app that has already won many accolades,” said Shannon O’Neill, SVP and CFO of Travel Channel, in a company statement. “The ‘Cities’ app delivers curated content, expert advice and great functionality for Travel Channel fans seeking surprising and off-the-beaten-path experiences.”
When users find an interesting location, they can learn more via the in-app web browser, with saved information being shared across multiple devices via iCloud support.
