Chances are you don’t remember – they have been around (at least in their modern sense) since 2007, after all – and if you’re in any way an active user of social media, particularly Twitter or Instagram, everyday use of hashtags has pretty much become par for the proverbial course. 2. Right? 3. Will Twitter Surpass LinkedIn As The Top Social Recruiting Channel? [STATS] Job hunters, head hunters and everyone in between naturally gravitate to LinkedIn for all their recruiting needs. But that trend could be changing, according to new stats from social recruiting solutions provider Gozaik: Twitter is poised to become the number one social recruitment tool out there, beating out rivals like LinkedIn and Facebook. 4. The Brand That’s Best At Performing Customer Service On Twitter [INFOGRAPHIC] After reviewing more than 40,000 tweets to gauge how well top U.S. brands use Twitter as a customer service channel, leading social customer service platform Conversocial released an insight-packed report titled “Tweet, Email or Call: Which Brands are Re-directing Social Media Complaints to Traditional Channels.” 5. 80% Of Restaurants Use Social Media For Marketing [STUDY] Social media rates as the top marketing tool for U.S. restaurants, reveals a new study conducted by Ipsos MediaCT on behalf of Groupon and the National Restaurant Association. 6. Bye Bye, Bieber – Katy Perry Is Now Twitter’s Most Popular User [STATS] U.S. pop superstar Katy Perry has usurped Canadian teen idol Justin Bieber as Twitter’s most popular user, and is now likely to become the first profile to reach 50 million followers on the platform. 7. The 20 Most Popular Brands On Twitter [STATS] @YouTube remains the top, most-followed brand on Twitter, with its more than 35 million followers placing it well ahead of all other brands, including the official @Twitter profile. 8. Twitter, Bing Renew Search Deal Microsoft has renewed its agreement with Twitter that makes tweets searchable on the Bing platform. The partnership, which began in late 2009, allows tweets to surface throughout Bing, including the main index and Bing’s social search page. 9. 8% Of U.S. Adults Consume News Via Twitter [STUDY] Close to one-in-ten U.S. adults get news through Twitter, representing approximately half of North America’s active Twitter population, reveals a new study from the Pew Research Journalism Project. 10. 25 Years Of Technology Evolution [INFOGRAPHIC] Before Twitter, there was Facebook.
