Tina Brown's days at The Daily Beast are numbered. The seasoned editor will leave the company in January, after her contract ends, to start an eponymous enterprise called Tina Brown Live Media, Daily Beast spokesman Andrew Kirk confirmed to Adweek.
BuzzFeed first broke the news of Brown's departure, indicating that she could retain control of The Daily Beast's Women in the World conference.
Politico's Mike Allen tweeted that Brown would expand the conference in her new endeavor:

Brown informed the newsroom of her plans on Wednesday, according to a Daily Beast report, which said that the site's managing director Deidre Depke and executive editor John Avlon will run the publication in Brown's absence.
But without Brown, the future of The Daily Beast itself is uncertain, BuzzFeed's report indicated. The scoop comes on the heels of an Adweek story that explored whether Brown's tenure at the company was drawing to a close, given that Newsweek was recently sold for an undisclosed—and likely very small—sum and the Beast is slated to lose as much as $12 million this year.
Spokespeople for The Daily Beast and IAC were not immediately available for comment.
