Times' Frank Bruni Leaves The Restaurant Beat Behind

Frank Bruni, the mysterious restaurant critic for The New York Times, is leaving his post after five years.

In an internal memo sent out today, executive editor Bill Keller said Bruni will be abandoning the restaurant beat this summer to promote his book “Born Round: the Secret History of a Full-Time Eater,” and take an “overdue vacation.” Afterward, Bruni will take up a position as writer-at-large for the Times magazine “where he will have license to follow his appetites — his journalistic appetites — wherever they lead him,” Keller said.
