Keep Austin residents wired. That’s the expanded mandate for Time Out in the Lone Star State.
Already catering to residents online, the magazine is launching an additional free quarterly print edition, scheduled to hit restaurants, bars, retailers and other area locations May 11. Overall, the publisher is presently covering 108 cities across 39 countries. There are similar free quarterly print editions of Time Out in Chicago, Miami and Los Angeles as well as free weekly print editions in New York and London.
A total of 75,000 copies of the first issue of Time Out Austin will be distributed. From the announcement:
“Austin is a perfect fit for Time Out—a city robust in its cultural offerings with an ever-changing food, drink, music and theater scene,” says editor Erin Kuschner. “We’re delighted to bring our hyper-local know-how and unique, curated content to Austin now also in print to inspire and enable people to make the most of this city.”
Kuschner recently revealed the finalists for Time Out Austin’s inaugural Bar Awards. Judges include Vance Henderson, U.S. brand ambassador for Drambuie, whose company is sponsoring the Bar of the Year category. Check out the full list of finalists here.
Kuschner, formerly with Time Out Los Angeles, relocated to Austin in March. She joins a great many other Angelenos who have made that switch over the past few years.
