At 11:40 p.m. Thursday – just three to four hours before many Politico reporters and editors rise and shine, they issued a correction to a Breaking News Alert on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.).
Corrections of this nature are not commonplace for Politico – we can’t recall one of this type. But here it is: a technical glitch.
The mistake on Thursday at 5:18 a.m.: POLITICO Breaking News: Rep. Gabrielle Giffords has been released from a Tucson hospital, the AP reports. Giffords will be admitted to a rehabilitation hospital in Dallas to continue her recovery.
The correction on Thursday at 11:40 p.m: Correction to Breaking News Alert: Due to a technical error, some POLITICO readers received a Breaking News e-mail today with inaccurate and outdated information about Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’s admission to a rehabilitation hospital. We regret the error.
