Thornburg to U.S. News

    Ryan Thornburg has joined U.S.News & World Report as managing editor for usnews.com. As the M.E. at CQ.com at Congressional Quarterly, Ryan directed the daily operations for CQ’s online news and information services. Prior to joining Congressional Quarterly a year ago, Ryan was the editor in charge of national and foreign news at washingtonpost.com, where he led the site’s coverage of the 2004 presidential election, the Iraq war and the unveiling of “Deep Throat.” Ryan has been involved in online journalism almost since its inception. In 1998 he was writing an online column for The Post that was a blog two years before the word was invented. He helped launch washingtonpost.com’s first e-mail newsletter. He managed washingtonpost.com’s election night database in 2000, and has produced and edited cutting edge multimedia features from the Monica Lewinsky scandal to the capture of Saddam Hussein.
