Today was a big week for the world of web video will all sorts of big happenings from Obama’s life YouTube interview to the premiere of Life In A Day and the return of the Old Spice guy. And even with the big news pushed to the back burner there were still a huge number of million-plus-view hits this week including the latest from Keenan Cahill, Ray William Johnson’s balls, a geeky Lady Gaga spoof, dueling cellos and the most amazing putt-putt shot you’ve ever seen!
David Guetta (With Me) One More Love Album Megamix
Keenan Cahill has made a name for himself as one of the biggest YouTube sensations of all time. Viewers love him; musicians love him; and everyone wants to collaborate with him. First it was 50 Cent and now Keenan gets to jam with David Guetta to a mix of Guetta’s hits, including ‘Sexy Chick’ and more. But is Keenan’s schtick getting a little played out? He does the same thing over and over. Do you think viewers are starting to get a little tired of it, or is Keenan still as fresh as ever?
Zheng Lab – Bad Project (Lady Gaga parody)
Earlier this week we told you about a new scientific Lady Gaga parody that was on our Viral Radar. Now with over 1.1 million views it’s one of the most popular YouTube videos of the week. These molecular and human genetics scientists know how to bust a move!
My Balls – (music video)
Anything having anything to do with Ray William Johnson is YouTube gold. Even a new song about balls (and we’re not talking about basketballs here) from Your Favorite Martian, “the cartoon band that lives inside Ray’s head,” has gotten over 1.7 million views in 2 days.
Stjepan Hauser and Luka Sulic – Smooth Criminal
This awesome cello cover of ‘Smooth Criminal’ went up last Thursday but it just started taking off at the beginning of this week. It’s got nearly 1.5 million views so far. Love it.
Greatest putt-putt shot of all time
Finally, this is officially my favorite YouTube video of the week. It’s called “Greatest putt-putt shot of all time” and it truly is the greatest! This guy’s ball is in a water trap and somehow he knocks it up onto a stream of water which makes it basically float in mid-air like a ghost and he knocks it in for a hole-in-one (or hole-in-two I guess, since his first shot landed him in the water). But an explanation doesn’t do this justice. Check out the video below and prepare to be blown away.
